Human Rights Justifications in the EU and Beyond

In the context of the European Union's HRJust project we cordially invite you to participate at a webinar on "Human Rights Justifications in the EU and Beyond". The webinar will be held online at the ZOOM platform on 9 July 2025 from 12:30 to 13:30 CET.

The contributors to the volume will utilise a broad range of methodologies to examine how and when states and the EU may legitimately appeal to human rights as justifications and identify when such deployments of human rights are legitimate. In the webinar, the core ideas of the project will be presented, and feedback and comments will be more than welcomed.

The lecturers will be Ester Herlin-Karnell, Professor of EU law, Gothenburg University (Sweden); Enzo Rossi, Associate professor in political theory, Amsterdam University (The Netherlands); Aravind Ganesh, Lecturer in Law, Sussex University (United Kingdom); Claudio Corradetti, Associate Professor in philosophy, Tor Vergata Rome University (Italy); Ayelet Banai, Lecturer in Political Theory, Haifa University (Israel); Nikola Schmidt, Head of the Center for Governance of Emerging Technologies and Senior Researcher, Institute of International Relations Prague (Czech Republic).
